Profile
Hi, I’m Michelle Park – a light-hearted independent wedding celebrant based near Leeds, West Yorkshire, specialising in modern and relaxed weddings which feel beautiful, utterly joyful and personal to you.
As a busy mother of three and part time teacher, your wedding is my favourite escape. I become completely obsessed with your colour themes, mood boards but most importantly, your unique love story. Some of my favourite weddings over the past few years have been relaxed weddings in the woods, they feel unapologetically romantic and enchanting. That said, I happily travel across Yorkshire (and beyond) creating bespoke ceremonies in a range of wedding venues. Over the years, these have included stately homes like Carlton Towers near Goole and rustic wedding barns like The Yorkshire Wedding Barn in Richmond.
Time and time again, my couples tell me their wedding guests were left in awe after their ceremony, often stating it to be the best wedding they’ve experienced. I think this comes down to the time and effort I put into each wedding – it really is so much more than a job to me. I love incorporating memorable symbolism into weddings, like inviting your guests to wrap your hands with handfasting cords (often with the addition of some soft music playing in the background) or lighting a remembrance candle in honour of those remembered in your hearts and minds on your wedding day. A real stand out ritual for me, was the blending of wild seeds, which we asked guests to participate in; it felt wonderfully emotional and made for some fabulous photos too.
Some of my other memorable ceremony moments include:
Listening to personal vows which were exchanged under the canopy of ancient trees at Saltmarshe Hall in Goole, with a harpist strumming gently in the background.
A wedding at The Faversham in Leeds where the wedding rings were brought to the front by the family’s dog, wearing a bow tie and corsage to match the groomsmen. He did a fabulous job!
A magical wedding in the deconsecrated St Leonards chapel at Hazelwood Castle. The couple were so much fun; they had the most endearing love story and they filled their ceremony with sweet little surprises for each other.
Here’s what some of my couples have said about their weddings:
“After a few meetings, it was clear how deeply she cared about getting to know us, understanding our story, and making sure every detail of our ceremony felt personal, heartfelt, and uniquely us. Michelle told our love story with warmth, humour, and sincerity, capturing not only our journey but also the essence of who we are as a couple.”
“Her professionalism, creativity, and kindness made the entire process joyful and stress-free. We’ll be forever grateful for how she captured our journey and our family, and helped set the tone for such a special day. Truly a five-star experience from start to finish.”
“There aren’t enough stars to give for how fabulous Michelle is! I would give her 100/5 if possible.”
I became a celebrant when I witnessed first hand the truly remarkable effect of a good celebrant at my own mother’s celebrant wedding. The ceremony was unbelievably unique and personal and set the tone perfectly for the rest of the day. I was so inspired. Fast forward a few years and I could never have anticipated just how rewarding and fulfilling this job would be. My favourite thing, as a celebrant, is connecting with couples and being welcomed into their world. Couples really do become friends and it’s a privilege to tell their love story.
If you’re looking for a celebrant in Leeds or the Yorkshire area, please get in touch. I offer all couples a no-obligation discovery Zoom call to see if we are a good fit. I also write regular blogs about the wedding ceremonies I’ve curated featuring some wonderful couples, some rather epic Yorkshire wedding venues and some beautiful photography.
Please do get in touch, I’d love to hear from you,
Michelle x
